From San José:

We provide van shuttle service from San José to Santa Teresa beach, and taxi service from/to Tambor, Montezuma and Paquera is available.

By plane: From San José you can take a 20-minute flight (around $70 one way) with Sansa (www.flysansa.com) or Nature Air (www.natureair.com) to Tambor airport. From Tambor, take a taxi to El Rey Patricio. It´s about 1 hour long. Let us know at what time you are coming and we can send a taxi to pick you up (about $40).
It´s a good option when you don't have much time and want to avoid a long trip.
The trip is about 2 hours from San José to get here.

By car: From San José you have a 2 hour ride to Puntarenas port. There, catch the ferry to Paquera (It has 8 daily frecuencies, every two hours, starting 4.30 am, about 1 ½ hour trip. More info: 661-2084). From Paquera, take the only road, drive to Cóbano and then follow the road to Mal País/Santa Teresa entrance, about 14 km from Cóbano.
Once at the entrance, turn right to Santa Teresa beach and follow the road about 5 km. From Paquera port is about 2 more hours driving to get here. It´s a good option if you want to enjoy the ride through the Nicoya Peninsula and explore the area once here.
If you are renting a car, we strongly recommend Budget Rent a Car as they are the only agency with branch offices in the area. Let us know and we can send you a quote. 4 x4 vehicle is advisable.

By private door-to-door shuttle: The shuttle departs every day from San José at 8 am. They can pick you up at your hotel or at the airport. The shuttle is a very comfortable van with AC, and ferry tickets are included. It takes about 5 hours to get here, and it costs $35 per person. Any other time of the day, $130 up to 3 people. It is a comfortable way to come by land without worrying about driving.

By bus: Catch the brand new bus service from the Coca Cola Market in San José, departing daily 7.30 am, 11.00 a.m and 3.30 pm. The service is provided by Hermanos Rodríguez bus company and runs every day, twice a day, from San José to Montezuma and Mal País/ Santa Teresa and viceversa. It costs $10 per person. Ferry tickets not included. TE: 642-0740.
It´s the cheapest option, although the longest one.
The trip takes about 5-6 hours from San José to get here.

El Rey Patricio Beachfront Hotel is located about 2 km away from Playa Santa Teresa´s downtown, at the only place where the roads meet the ocean.
